We continue our series on ‘The Holy Ghost’ by discovering one of God’s great promises to our current generation: the gift of peace. When the Holy Spirit comes into a believer’s life, we are promised the peace of God, but most Christians would admit that the peace of God feels distant and fleeting compared to ever-present and on-going. Jeremiah 29:11 is one of the most famous Bible verses — a passage the promises good things, a wonderful future, and a powerful hope. But without the context, we can sometimes miss the deeper meaning. The surrounding verses remind us that we are called to be ‘resident missionary’s,’ to plant and establish our lives where God calls us, and to build a foundational faith that gets passed on for generations to come. Then, from this place of being resident missionary’s, we can point people to the wonderful vision and hope of Jesus Christ — the One who has come to make all things new.

Ever hear the phrase: “Follow Your Heart”? Ever follow your heart with no abandon? Jeff continues our series by opening to Jeremiah 17 and contrasting what happens when humans follow their own heart versus following the Lord. Thankfully, God has not left us to ourselves but promised to transform all things — including our minds, hearts, and lives.

What is an idol and do you have any? Contrary to popular belief, an idol isn’t just a wooden or metal image we bow down to in worship but it can be anything that takes the central place of Jesus Christ in our hearts and lives. As Jeff continues our series in Jeremiah, he looks at a famous passage where God calls us to turn from idolatry, plow up the hardened ‘soil of our hearts,’ and trust in Him again.
