Follow Your Heart (?)

Ever hear the phrase: “Follow Your Heart”? Ever follow your heart with no abandon? Jeff continues our series by opening to Jeremiah 17 and contrasting what happens when humans follow their own heart versus following the Lord. Thankfully, God has not left us to ourselves but promised to transform all things — including our minds, hearts, and lives.

Idols & New Beginnings

What is an idol and do you have any? Contrary to popular belief, an idol isn’t just a wooden or metal image we bow down to in worship but it can be anything that takes the central place of Jesus Christ in our hearts and lives. As Jeff continues our series in Jeremiah, he looks at a famous passage where God calls us to turn from idolatry, plow up the hardened ‘soil of our hearts,’ and trust in Him again.

The Power of Confession

How does our relationship with God actually work? What’s our job and what is God’s job? If/when our faith starts to slip, how can we turn back and work on our relationship with God again? As Jeff continues our series in Jeremiah, we discover how God views our relationship, the division of labor between humans and God, and how the ‘power of confession’ can move the heart of God and offer healing to us today.

The Storm of Pentecost

Jeff continues our series on ‘Storms’ by looking at one of the most famous Christian holidays: Pentecost. Imagine what it was like when a heavenly windstorm surrounded by flames of fire descended upon the disciples. It created such a commotion that people were gathering from all over the city and the result? A Spirit-empowered and Spirt-emboldened witness to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because of Pentecost, we are promised to be filled with God’s presence & power, and this compels us to be ‘Joining God’s Mission Transforming All Things.’

Fair-Weather Faith

Do you have ‘fair-weather faith?’ Jesus taught us that in this life, storms will come. The differentiator isn’t the strength of the storm coming against us or even the frequency — but Jesus said that those who build their life with God by listening & following will experience great wisdom, like someone who has built their home on bedrock. Does your faith survive the storm or does it only show up with the skies are clear and the wind is calm? Listen in as Jeff continues our series by exploring a life of wisdom.

Peace & Power

It’s easy to forget our history with God - how He’s been faithful, compassionate, and even powerful in our past. Storms can have a way of making us forget, but Mark 4 reminds us of the power that Jesus has over chaos and how His power can grow our faith today. Listen in as Jeff and Natalie continue our series on ‘Storms,’ reminding us to not let the storms of life rob us of our history with God.

Presence & Purpose

Storms, both literal and figurative, are part of our everyday life. In scripture we see much of the same: literal storms can redirect our plans and metaphorical ‘storms of life’ have a way of shaping our beliefs & trust in God. This week, Jeff looks at Paul’s famous shipwreck on the island of Malta. What can we learn about our faith through this literal storm and how can Paul’s response impact our relationship with God? Listen in as Jeff explores Acts 27 & 28 and how the storms of life can increase our experience of God’s presence & purpose in our lives.

The Pit of Despair

Famous ‘pits’ include:‘The Pit’ from Parks & Rec where Andy Dwyer fell or the infamous “pit of despair” from Princess Bride. But in Psalm 40 we learn about the true pit of despair, a life knocked down and far from God. Thankfully, because of God’s great love He promises to rescue us from this pit of despair and consequently, one of our most natural responses is to Praise Him and Tell Others. Jeff continues our message by looking at how Psalm 40 is a great example of how we can share our faith with others.
